Bryan Oviedo is set to leave Everton to join Sunderland in the near future.
Ronald Koeman has admitted to the Liverpool Echo that he changed his mind about Everton’s Bryan Oviedo during his time at Goodison Park.
Koeman had planned to keep Oviedo as back-up to Leighton Baines for the remainder of the season.
However, after Sunderland came in for the Costa Rica international, Koeman had a change of heart and allowed the defender to leave, so he could play first-team football again.

“In the situation of Oviedo it was difficult because he was the back-up for Leighton. I changed my mind,” the Dutch boss said.
Oviedo is now expected to join Sunderland in the near future, alongside Everton teammate Darron Gibson.

The pair will link up with former Everton boss David Moyes at the Stadium of Light.
Oviedo and Gibson will join a number of former Everton players at Sunderland – with Jack Rodwell, Victor Anichebe, Steven Pienaar and Joleon Lescott all currently plying their trade on Wearside.
Oviedo has made just seven appearances in all competitions of the Toffees so far this campaign.
