Everton have not made a good start to the 2017-18 Premier League campaign.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has admitted to The Liverpool Echo that he is disappointed not to have signed a striker in the summer transfer window.

The Merseyside outfit lost star striker Romelu Lukaku to Premier League rivals Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

The Toffees signed Sandro Ramirez from Malaga, but the 22-year-old former Barcelona forward is not at Lukaku’s level yet.

Everton manager Koeman has admitted that he is disappointed not to have signed his first-choice striker in the summer transfer window.

Ronald Koeman, Manager of Everton shows appreciation to the fans after Premier League match between Everton and Watford at Goodison Park on May 12, 2017 in Liverpool, England.

“I cannot explain why (we didn’t sign a striker),” Koeman told The Liverpool Echo. “I thought we had our option one in, and I was really disappointed by that.

“You need to understand that you can have option two, option three…and the right price for the right player is something we need to look at as well.

“Sometimes if you are interested in a player, then you know what they ask for that player is ridiculous.

“To get the first option as a striker in this team would have made the team stronger. Normally, that would have been easier.”

Everton have a good squad, but the Toffees do look a bit light in the striker’s department.

Replacing a player of Lukaku’s quality was always going to be tough; after all, the former Chelsea striker is potentially world class and scored as many as 25 goals in the Premier League last season.

The Merseyside outfit have not made a great start to the 2017-18 Premier League campaign and have been able to pick up only four points from as many matches.
