Tottenham lost the home leg of their Champions League semi final.

Tottenham Hotspur’s home leg of the Champions League semi-final was a big disappointment.
Spurs were beaten 1-0 by Ajax and rarely threatened their opponents. The biggest positive was not conceding more than one goal.
Tottenham’s performance was underwhelming, although not totally surprising considering the players they were missing through injury and suspension.
Ex Ajax star Ronald de Boer has said he was surprised at how bad Tottenham were.
He told Voetball Primeur: “What struck me? How bad Tottenham looked compared to the guys from Ajax, especially in the first half.
“Jesus, how disappointing that was. Tottenham is just the number three in the Premier League, isn’t it? I have hardly seen Christian Eriksen involved in a nice attack.”

He went onto hail Ajax’s success as ‘unprecedented’ amid the Dutch side’s unlikely march to the brink of the Champions League final.
It is to Ajax’s credit that they made Tottenham look ordinary, through their own high quality performance.
Next week they must do it all again, and Tottenham are unlikely to be worse.
