The Dutchman has struggled to have an impact at White Hart Lane.
Former Dutch international Ronald De Boer has expressed his concern at the development of Vincent Janssen at Tottenham Hotspur – and the knock-on effects it may have on the Dutch national team.
Spurs decided that Harry Kane needed extra striking support this season so in the summer they won the battle to sign Vincent Janssen from AZ Alkmaar.
He cost the club, according to Sky Sports, around £18.6 million and was supposed to be a natural goal threat – much like Kane.

However, he has struggled to settle at Spurs since making the move, and has not proven himself in front of goal at White Hart Lane.
He has managed just three goals for Spurs in 20 appearances – all of those coming from the penalty spot.
De Boer is concerned and with the player currently injured he fears for his future if this continues at White Hart Lane. He is quoted by SoccerNews.nl as stating:
“We were looking to (Ruud) Van Nistelrooy, (Patrick) Kluivert and (Robin) Van Persie for a long time for a new striker and we thought we’d found that in Janssen.”
“The last couple of times he was unchallenged with Holland, but I’m worried. In ten internationals four goals for the Dutch, which is a good average. One goal, also a penalty in thirteen games for Tottenham, which is less.
“He is injured, playing little and raises doubts. Among the public and especially in the press. Their criticism is properly expressed.
“He is so exciting. If Janssen is not going to play, we have a big problem.”

Janssen has certainly struggled to have an impact in English football so far and failed to take his chance in the first-team when Kane was injured.
Now those roles have reversed and with the January transfer window open Spurs could easily bring in another striker this winter.
Janssen must get fit, and firing, soon for Spurs or face being cast aside by Mauricio Pochettino.
