The one-time Rangers utility player would have to oust Steven Gerrard at Ibrox.

The former Rangers midfielder, Ronald de Boer, is tipping one of his old Ibrox colleagues to one day take Steven Gerrard’s job.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst played alongside his fellow Dutchman for a season at Rangers before Arsenal came calling in 2001.
But he has long since turned to management – leading another of his old sides, Feyenoord, to one league title and four domestic cups since 2015.
Van Bronckhorst is, however, leaving De Kuip this summer, with his next destination currently on loan.
And while Rangers are an unlikely next step after finishing strongly in Gerrard’s first campaign, De Boer believes a return to Ibrox is possible down the line.
“Steven Gerrard is manager of Rangers and has done well,” he said in quotes published by the Scottish Sun. “But at some stage he is going to have the ambition to take another step elsewhere.
“I think Gio would be a great fit in Scotland with Rangers.

“I also believe there could be something for him at his former club Arsenal, where he is highly thought of.
“Perhaps not as a manager, maybe as a coach. He would have a good chance of that.”
Van Bronckhorst’s replacement at Feyenoord is the former Manchester United defender, Jaap Stam.

The former played 117 times for Rangers – with whom he won two league titles and three domestic cups.
