The Dutch striker played with Vlaar at AZ Alkmaar.

Tottenham Hotspur fans have been impressed with much of the club’s small but targeted transfer business.
One player who is already proving a hit with fans is Dutch striker Vincent Janssen. The frontman has looked like a very good buy in his performances for the club so far, even if he has yet to find the net competitively.
This week he has been back in the Netherlands on international duty and to pick up a number of awards for his performances with AZ Alkmaar in the Eredivisie last season.

Whilst there he met up with some former team-mates, including Ron Vlaar.
The former Aston Villa centre-back joined AZ last season and was clearly very impressed with the performances of Janssen.
He told FOX Sports this week:
“I take my hat off to what he achieved.
“It’s very clever how he made the Jupiler League move to AZ. Last season he played 49 matches for the club alone. There’s Orange later and added at an earlier stage the Juniors.
“He has now already taken steps. I observe the training of the Dutch team. He goes on, and that’s special.
“He continues to amaze everyone, and also a bit himself.

“We have put together the fire on our shins, and the memories will always be on my shins.”
Kind words from an experienced Premier League and international defender who certainly knows a good striker when he sees one.
Janssen’s good form for Spurs early on does however need to start translating into goals.
He has come close on a number of occasions, and been bested by Premier League goalkeepers.
Tottenham fans will hope he can bag that crucial first goal when he returns from international duty.
