Ron Harper, a former NBA champion, sees a clear difference in Luka Doncic compared to his time with the Dallas Mavericks and the LA Lakers.

Mavericks supporters are also surprised by how much weight he’s dropped. It’s clear Luka is making an effort to turn things around before the new season begins.

But not everyone is convinced. Stephen A. Smith has called for more consistency from Doncic when it comes to staying in shape.

Even so, one former NBA player had a different perspective on Doncic’s transformation, suggesting it reflects a shift in his mindset.

Ron Harper says Luka Doncic was complacent with the Dallas Mavericks

Ron Harper took to social media to share his thoughts on Luka Doncic’s new look, pointing to it as a sign of how things have changed since his move from Dallas.

Harper believes that what we saw from Luka in terms of fitness and work ethic during his time with the Mavericks reflected a player who had grown comfortable in his situation.

“You saw Luka’s body and non-workouts in Dallas, so you can make your own opinion. He got comfortable in Dallas.”

Luka used to come into seasons looking sharp, only for his fitness levels to drop off as the games piled up. It became a familiar pattern over the years.

While some have exaggerated just how out of shape he was, there’s no denying that questions around his conditioning kept coming up throughout his time with the Mavericks.

Lakers hoping to take advantage of a more focused Luka Doncic

What once was a concern for the Dallas Mavericks might turn into a strength for the LA Lakers. Following a tough split with Dallas, Luka Doncic now seems driven to prove people wrong.

Tony Allen thinks Doncic’s leaner build could make him even tougher to handle. Shedding some weight might also help him improve defensively, an area that’s always been under scrutiny.

Magic Johnson has already praised the effort Doncic has put in, and the Lakers are hoping that hard work will pay off on the court this season.

If he can maintain this level of focus throughout the season, the Lakers could quickly become one of the most dangerous teams in the league.

This year could be Luka’s chance to show Dallas what they gave up and remind everyone why he’s still one of the game’s top talents.
