Giovani Lo Celso expressed his delight on Instagram after the Tottenham loanee helped Villarreal knock Juventus out of the Champions League on Wednesday night.
Unai Emery’s side went into the second-leg encounter having drawn 1-1 from the first leg, before proceeding to dispatch the Serie A giants 3-0 in Turin to book their quarter-final place.
Lo Celso, who is on-loan at the Europa League holders from Spurs, played 74 minutes for his side, with his replacement, Gerard Moreno, starting off proceedings by scoring from the spot after 78 minutes, before a further two goals were added by Pau Torres and Arnaud Danjuma.
Whilst Spurs were enjoying a 2-0 win at Brighton in the Premier League, Lo Celso was experiencing one of the best days of his club career by causing an upset against Juventus, alongside a certain Serge Aurier, who provided the assist for Torres’ goal.
After the game had concluded, Lo Celso took to his IG to express his delight, by posting the following message.
“Magic nights of the Champions League. Big team. On to the quarters.”
His Spurs teammate, and fellow countryman, Cristian Romero, posted in the comments section ‘let’s go’.
Romero himself had a night to remember because he opened the scoring, albeit in fortunate circumstances, during Tottenham’s win at the Amex.
Whilst Lo Celso does the business in the Champions League, Antonio Conte will be hoping his team can now go on a run and keep their top-four hopes alive.
They were aided by the fact that Arsenal were beaten by Liverpool last night as well.
But, they still have a long way to go, including a face-off against West Ham United at the weekend.
It perhaps helps Conte and his players that the Hammers have a very crucial Europa League tie against Sevilla to deal with on Thursday night.
David Moyes and his players are 1-0 down from the first leg, so expect them to throw absolutely everything at tonight’s game, which might just leave them short come Sunday.
