The Everton hitman reveals what he thought when he saw the trophy up close.

Everton hitman Romelu Lukaku has revealed what he thought when he saw the Premier League trophy up close this past season.
“Whether it’s with the national team or my club, I want to win,” he’s quoted as saying by Sport Witness.
“When we played Leicester in the league, I saw the Premier League trophy. I looked at it for a minute and told myself ‘You, I’m going to lift you one day!’”

Was it the moment he decided that he would have to leave Everton in order to fulfill this ambition?
Of course, the fact that the Toffees – who finished 11th for the second successive season – went on to lose 3-1 at the King Power on Leicester City’s Premier League coronation wouldn’t have helped the Merseysiders’ cause with regard to keeping the 23-year-old, who confirmed his desire to leave last month via Sky Sports.
But when Everton spent some £28 million on him in 2014, they must have known that one day he would flea the nest and, having netted 25 goals in all competitions this past season, it seems like that day may be approaching.

On the plus side, Lukaku is contracted to the club for another three years, giving Everton a very strong position in the negotiation process. Should he leave, they’ll be handsomely compensated.
Regardless, fans seem to be unhappy with the big Belgian, but it is hard to fault an ambitious young man in any walk of life.
