Romelu Lukaku responded on his Instagram story to Anderlecht’s official account posting a picture of Albert Sambi Lokonga and the Chelsea striker after the game at Arsenal on Sunday.
Anderlecht’s Instagram account asked fans to ‘caption this’, as both Lukaku and Lokonga are in conversation.
The Chelsea hitman, who opened the scoring at the Emirates yesterday, issued a simple response by saying ‘Made in Neerpede’.
Both Lukaku and Lokonga came through the ranks at the Belgian club and they are now locking horns with one another in England’s top-flight.
Whilst this is Lukaku’s second return to the Premier League, this is Lokonga’s first taste of English football.
The rising midfielder can learn a lot from Lukaku’s early spell on these shores because it wasn’t all plain sailing for the bulldozing striker.
He didn’t get the opportunities he craved at Stamford Bridge and he had to go to places like West Brom and then Everton where he made a name for himself.
That eventually landed him on Manchester United’s doorstep, but he soon found himself out of the door and in Italy where he won the Serie A title with Inter last season.
Whilst Lukaku struggled to get into a strong Chelsea side many years ago, his fellow countryman will face his own difficult battles because of where Arsenal are as a football club right now.
Two defeats from your opening two Premier League matches isn’t helpful to anybody and if Lokonga wanted to know how it felt swimming in the deep end, well he will know exactly how that feels now.
