Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has praised Harry Kane, but questioned whether the Tottenham Hotspur star could teach him anything.
Everton’s Romelu Lukaku
Everton star Romelu Lukaku has praised Harry Kane and wished him well in his recovery from injury, but insisted that he would not watch the Spurs closely as he does not feel that he could teach him anything, the Daily Mail reports.
The two men are currently topping the goalscoring charts in the Premier League, having both scored 19 times this term. However, Lukaku has a big advantage in the race with Kane, after the Englishman limped off during Tottenham’s FA Cup tie with Millwall last weekend.
Somewhat surprisingly however, the Belgian has expressed his disappointment that Kane is set for a spell on the sidelines.
“I’m sad he is injured,” he said, as reported by the Mail. “Everyone wants to see top players in the league and it’s sad for Tottenham and him. I hope he gets better and becomes stronger than he is now. He is a good player.”
Tottenham’s Harry Kane
Despite the praise and the concern, Lukaku took a brutally honest stance when he was asked whether he tries to learn anything from what Kane does.
“I don’t look at other players if they aren’t going to teach me anything,” he replied when asked about learning from Kane. “If I have the feeling you aren’t going to teach me something, why should I look at you?”
In some ways, it is perhaps understandable that Lukaku is not looking at Kane as someone he can learn from. The pair are the same age and enjoy similar talisman-like roles in their respective sides.

Therefore, Lukaku may feel that because there are some similarities between himself and Kane, it makes little sense trying to study his game further.
Nevertheless, considering that Kane boasts a better strike-rate for Tottenham than Lukaku does for Everton, some will suggest that he could do a lot worse than follow his lead.
