Everton take on Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League this weekend, with hopes of beating a side they must be hoping to emulate.

One key player if Everton are to get anything from the game will be Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku.

He will be hoping to get the better of two international team-mates in the Spurs defence this afternoon. Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen have formed one of the best defensive partnerships in the league and Lukaku is a regular team-mate of the pair in the Belgian national team.

Speaking to Sky Sports this week Lukaku made it clear that once he is out on that pitch, friendship will go out the window:

“In the game I don’t have any time to have any compassion.

“I am not the type of guy who is going to be like ‘oh, are you alright mate?’.

“No. I’m here to win. If I have to kill you, or hurt you I have to do it.”

The Tottenham defenders will no doubt understand they have a serious task on their hands trying to prevent Lukaku from impacting the game.

He has scored 23 goals in 30 games for Everton this season and is undoubtedly one of the Premier League’s more lethal strikers.

If Spurs are to get a three points they need in the title race today, then shackling Lukaku will play a major role in any success.
