Lukaku has turned down the chance to become the Toffees’ highest paid player ever. So what next for the striker?
Everton’s Romelu Lukaku
Romelu Lukaku has cast his Everton future into doubt after telling the club he will not sign a new contract.
According to the BBC, the Toffees were prepared to make Lukaku – who has two years remaining on his current deal – the most highly paid player in their history.
However, the 23-year-old wants to be playing Champions League football and here are four clubs that could well be leading the way for his signature.
Chelsea
The Blues appear to be the favourites to re-sign the forward who they sold to Everton less than three years ago. The Mirror claim that after having a £57m bid for Lukaku rejected last summer, Chelsea would be prepared to pay £75m this time.
Manchester United
The Daily Star say that United will win the race to sign the Belgium international, as they seek a long-term replacement for 35-year-old Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Lukaku’s agent, Mino Raiola, has recently overseen deals taking Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Ibrahimovic to Old Trafford.

Paris Saint-Germain
The Independent reported back in November that PSG were interested in signing the Toffees’ top-scorer to boost their attacking options and these developments could well pique their interest again.
Juventus
Another European giant that was linked with Lukaku earlier in the season, Football Italia believe that Juve are considering bringing the attacker to Serie A once again; with his younger brother, Jordan, already playing in Italy with Lazio.
