Reporter Fabrizio Romano reports that Sunderland are in talks with Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain over a move for French teen Edouard Michut – only weeks after Celtic attempted to lure the midfielder north of the border.

Michut, 19, is an incredibly talented teenager. He has come through PSG’s ranks to play eight times for the senior side, even laying on an assist for PSG in a 1-1 draw against Lyon last season. A playmaker, with an eye for goal, and an assist.

Reports in July claimed that Celtic were planning to table a £2million offer to sign the nine-time France Under-19 ace. However, reports from L’Equipe claim that PSG want as much as £6.75million for the talented, highly-rated midfielder.

But in a surprise twist, Romano reports that Sunderland are now looking to sign Michut. It would be a pricey signing for Sunderland, as they have only just gained promotion to the Championship – making a loan deal much more likely.

Michut would be an incredible signing for Sunderland. Alex Neil has made a good start in the second tier with the Black Cats as he looks to guide Sunderland back to the top division of English football. It might even happen this term.

If they are to stand a chance of achieving a place in the top six as early as this seasons, signings like Michut would help. After five games, Sunderland sit in fifth place in the second-tier of English football. Michut would take them forward.

Whether Sunderland can convince Michut of a move to Wearside remains to be seen. They may be able to afford some degree of compromise if they suggest a permanent move. But a loan deal surely suits all parties involved in the deal.
