Well, it looks like neither Tottenham Hotspur or Arsenal will be signing Lautaro Martinez this summer.
The Inter Milan hitman has long been linked with a transfer to both North London clubs.
Last summer, The Times reportged that Spurs had agreed a fee with the then-Serie A champions for the Argentina international in a piece of speculation that never amounted to much, despite a reliable source.
In May, the same publication claimed then that Arsenal were trying to sign the 24-year-old, who would reject a transfer to the Emirates Stadium in light of their failure to qualify for the Champions League.
That put Tottenham in pole position with regards to Premier League clubs signing Martinez.
However, Fabrizio Romano, another reliable source, has today tweeted out that he will not be joining the Lilywhites, either.
Earlier today, Football London reported that Tottenham were growing increasingly likely to sign Richarlison from Everton.
And if that’s their primary focus, which is very much appears to be, then there is no room for Martinez, valued at £69 million [Calciomercato].
Does that mean Arsenal are back in the race? Well, no because despite Spurs moving on to a different target, Mikel Arteta’s side still have no Champions League football to offer the marksman and thereforfe a transfer to the Emirates Stadium seems unlikely regardless of their North London rivals’ intentions.
