According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have made a £60m bid for Moises Caicedo from Brighton.
The Ecuadorian midfielder has been making waves in the Premier League this season, catching the eye of several top clubs including Chelsea and Liverpool.
The interest from Arsenal comes as no surprise, with Mikel Arteta admitting that the club need midfield reinforcements following an injury to Mohamed Elneny.
Caicedo would bring a fresh dynamic to the Arsenal midfield and could be the perfect long-term upgrade on Elneny or even Thomas Partey.
Brighton, who have been having a strong season in the Premier League, may be reluctant to let go of one of their star players. However, the club has already sold Leandro Trossard to Arsenal this month and the good relationship between the two clubs may help the Gunners here.

Indeed, Arsenal have also signed Ben White from Brighton in the past, so there is a working relationship between the two parties.
This move by Arsenal would also align with their recent transfer strategy of signing young South American talents. In recent years, the club has brought in players such as Gabriel Magalhaes, Marquinhos and Gabriel Martinelli. Magalhaes and Martinelli have, of course, gone on to become key players for the team.
It will be interesting to see how this transfer saga unfolds in the coming days, as Arsenal look to strengthen their squad for the second half of the season and continue their title push.
With Caicedo’s potential and the other clubs also in the race, the price for the player may rise. But Arsenal have now made their first move and it’s up to the other teams in this race to react.
Keep an eye on this one in the coming days. Arsenal have already made two transfers in this window, but they could be saving the best for last in the shape of Caicedo.
