Fabrizio Romano says Rangers are set to complete the loan signing of Manchester United wonderkid Amad Diallo. The teenager is set to move to Ibrox until the summer, and a deal will not include a permanent clause.
Diallo, 19, joined Manchester United for a whopping fee of £37million (Athletic) 12 months ago in January 2021. Since then, he has only played nine times for Manchester United’s senior team, scoring once.
But his stats for the club’s Under-23 side are eye-catching, scoring six goals and laying on four assists in just five appearances. A loan move was expected for Diallo this month – and Rangers are set to sign the attacker.
Rangers have seemingly stepped up their pursuit of bringing in an attacker after Ianis Hagi was ruled out for the entire season with a knee injury – after an operation. Romano broke the news on Twitter on Thursday.
Romano on Diallo: Rangers the perfect for Manchester United teen
Ibrox is the ideal stage for Diallo – and for Manchester United. Diallo has the talent and quality to improve a Premier League side, proven furthermore by his huge price tag. But only for clubs towards the bottom.
That would hardly give Diallo the time on the ball to create and score goals. He needs to join a side who control possession, and are fighting at the top of the league. Rangers sit top of the Scottish Premiership table.
They score, they create and they are in the hunt for a second successive title. Not only that, but Rangers remain in the Europa League knockout stages. Diallo and Rangers is ideal for all parties involved, including United.
