Fabrizio Romano says Manchester City are the latest club to be looking at the possibility of signing Lyon sensation Lucas Paqueta. Arsenal and Newcastle have been recently linked with the £58million-rated playmaker.

Paqueta, 24, has become a Brazil regular since joining Lyon in the summer of 2020. In his first season, he scored 10 and created six in 34 games. Consistently, he has scored 10 and created seven this time around, in 41.

The Chronicle recently reported that Newcastle and Arsenal are set to go head to head for Paqueta – who is expected to cost £58million this summer. The Brazilian wants as much as £180,000 a week, wherever he goes.

Now, Romano reports that Arsenal and Newcastle are not the only Premier League clubs interested in landing the Lyon ace – with Manchester City also said to be interested in Paqueta. City would certainly be able to afford him.

“I’m told that Lucas Paqueta is a player they [City] really appreciate, with his skills. It will be a complicated and tough negotiation with Lyon. He is a star, it will be more than complicated – no talks, but they do like Paqueta.”

Romano on Paqueta: Manchester City, Arsenal or Newcastle?

A move to Newcastle would see Paqueta reunite with Bruno Guimaraes, his ex-Lyon teammate and Brazil friend. That will surely prove as incredibly tempting for the playmaker – but the Toon are not in Europe.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are closing in on fourth and have a Brazilian contingent of their own – Gabriel, Gabriel Martinelli, Edu, and other Portuguese-speaking members, including Cedric Soares and Nuno Tavares.

Manchester City would see him join the best side, but he would struggle to start – instead getting the odd game here and there. It may prevent him from reaching the kind of form and momentum he is showing at Lyon.
