Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Tottenham Hotspur managerial target Mauricio Pochettino is the favourite to become the new manager of Chelsea.

The Italian journalist has reported that Pochettino has been the favourite for the Chelsea manager’s job since Thursday and will hold more talks in the coming days.

Romano has said that this week will be key in regard to the Argentine boss taking charge of the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners.

The journalist has added that although Chelsea appreciate Vincent Kompany, the former Manchester City central defender and Burnley manager is behind Pochettino.

Romano’s tweet will come as a blow for Tottenham, who have also been linked with Pochettino.

The London Evening Standard have reported that Pochettino is open to returning to Spurs.

The Times reported in March that the 51-year-old is among the managers Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is looking at.

The one positive of Pochettino potentially taking the Chelsea job is that it will leave Tottenham free to make a move for Kompany.

According to TEAMtalk, Spurs admire the Burnley boss and have him on their radar as well.
