Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Twitter after Newcastle United were linked with Man United midfielder Donny van de Beek.
Van de Beek joined United from Ajax for £35m in the summer of 2020 and was expected to make a big impact in Manchester.

However, things haven’t gone according to plan and he’s made just 49 appearances for the Red Devils, the vast majority of which have been from the bench.
He almost joined Everton on loan during the summer transfer window and with his playing time failing to increase since then, there’s speculation around his Old Trafford future once again.
On Thursday, the Manchester Evening News reported that van de Beek has been offered to both Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund on loan until the end of the season, with the player himself said to be ‘open’ to leaving United this month.

However, doubts were cast over whether or not such a move would actually be sanctioned by Ralf Ragnick and Romano has bad news for Newcastle fans to that end.
“No decision made yet by Manchester United on his potential loan elsewhere, nothing communicated to player/agent,” wrote Romano on Twitter late on Thursday night. “Ralf Rangnick still wants Donny to stay until the end of the season.”
“No direct contacts with Borussia Dortmund as of now,” he added.
Rangnick could block Van de Beek to Toon
Based on this latest update, it could be difficult for Newcastle to land Van de Beek.
Rangnick is under pressure to bring back a feel-good factor at Old Trafford and if he feels van de Beek could play a role in that, he’ll be staying at United.
There’s still plenty of time left in the window, though, and how the midfielder fares over United’s next three matches could be a factor.
If he starts against Aston Villa on Saturday and shines after receiving praise for his impact off the bench last time out, Newcastle should start looking elsewhere.
However, if his lack of game time continues or he fails to impress, a late-window approach may have more chance of success.
