Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is expected to leave this summer but Tottenham Hotspur are only monitoring his situation.
That is according to new claims from Fabrizio Romano, who took to Twitter to discuss Mamardashvili’s future.
Romano claims that Mamardashvili is now expected to move on ‘in any case’.
Valencia are stuck in the La Liga relegation zone and Mamardashvili would have been expected to go if they are relegated.
Yet it seems that Mamardashvili is looking to move on even if Valencia stay up.
The Georgian stopper only signed a new contract in September, which included a huge €100million (£88million) release clause.
A summer exit is still expected though with Chelsea and Tottenham ‘just monitoring his development’ according to Romano.
The strongest interest comes from Leicester City though, who met with Mamardashvili’s agent earlier this month.
Yet with the Foxes in real danger of dropping into the Championship, Chelsea and Tottenham may yet have real hope of a deal.

Giorgi Mamardashvili fits the bill for Tottenham Hotspur
It’s certainly time for Tottenham to move for another goalkeeper.
Hugo Lloris has been a great servant over the last 11 years but is now 36 and isn’t quite the goalkeeper he once was, whilst Fraser Forster isn’t the long-term solution.
Tottenham need to bring in a goalkeeper for the future and ultimately secure the heir to Lloris.
Mamardashvili could be that man given his huge potential at the age of just 22.
The former Dinamo Tbilisi ace has been a sensation between the sticks for Valencia, shining with his shot-stopping ability and his command of the penalty area.
Mamardashvili maybe isn’t the best with his feet just yet but is an imposing figure between the sticks at 6ft 6in tall.
Whilst Mamardashvili isn’t the finished product, he could be what Tottenham are looking for as they look to a future beyond Hugo Lloris.
Hearing that Mamardashvili is expected to leave is a boost, but Tottenham may need to firm up their interest soon.
