Everton are set for talks to snap up Anthony Elanga from Manchester United after repeated rumours about a move.

Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga could head to Everton this summer with talks now imminent.

That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who claimed last night that talks for Elanga to join Everton are now on.

Romano claims that a number of clubs are interested in signing Elanga this summer but Everton are making their move.

Romano adds that direct talks will take place soon after Everton registered their initial interest.

This comes after Foot Mercato reported on Tuesday night that Everton were planning a serious push to sign Elanga.

Anthony Elanga needs Manchester United exit

Elanga has been highly rated in the United ranks ever since arriving at the club in 2014.

Previously with Elfsborg and Malmo in his native Sweden, Elanga moved to England with his family at just 12.

United pounced and have seen Elanga rise up through the ranks to become a first-team player, recording 55 appearances.

Elanga is now 21 though and he needs to be playing regularly – something that isn’t going to come at United.

The Swede started just five Premier League games last season and just 47 league minutes in 2023.

Elanga must kick on and focus on his development – and a move to Everton could really help him.

Everton would give Elanga a key role

It’s clear that Everton really like Elanga.

The Daily Mail reported last summer that Everton wanted Elanga and the rumour returned in January too.

Everton are back in for Elanga again and this may be the right time for a move.

The Toffees really need to add attacking talent this summer, both in terms of wingers and centre forwards.

Everton sold Anthony Gordon in January and adding a winger with pace and the ability to drive at defenders.

Elanga has shown that ability and has previously been hailed as ‘electric’ by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

It’s unclear whether this would be a loan or a permanent move, but if Everton can sign Elanga permanently, they could have a star for years to come.
