Chelsea are pushing to land Elye Wahi amid a belief that two other clubs are looking to sign the Montpellier forward.
Elye Wahi is Chelsea’s next key target after finalising a deal for Rennes talent Lesley Ugochukwu.
That is according to Fabrizio Romano, who claims that Chelsea will turn their focus back to talks for Wahi.
The Montpellier striker was heavily linked with Chelsea last week but the Blues prioritised doing a deal for Ugochukwu.
Romano claims that Chelsea will continue talks for Wahi in the coming days in the hope of securing a deal.
The plan is for Chelsea to loan Wahi straight on to Strasbourg, Todd Boehly’s new club.
Chelsea want to get this deal moving forward as there is a belief that two other clubs are trying to sign Wahi.
The Blues have already had a bid of around £23.5million rejected according to French newspaper L’Equipe, but that report noted that Wahi wants to join Chelsea.

Tottenham Hotspur may be lurking for Chelsea target Elye Wahi
It’s unclear who the other two clubs in the race may be but Tottenham Hotspur could be one of them.
French newspaper Midi Libre reported last week that Tottenham were ready to try and hijack Chelsea’s move.
An offer was expected within hours but updates on Tottenham moving for Wahi have been thin on the ground.

Wahi, 20, was outstanding last season with 19 goals in 33 appearances for Montpellier.
The Frenchman has emerged as a huge talent and looks to have enormous potential over the coming years.
This isn’t a foregone conclusion for Chelsea; Tottenham would be able to offer a route straight into the Premier League rather than heading to Strasbourg for a year.
The Blues understandably want this deal done very quickly, potentially fearing that Tottenham are one of the teams lurking.
