Romaine Sawyers has told Brentford’s official website he is delighted with the club’s acquisition of Pontus Jansson.
Jansson left Leeds for Brentford last week after being told he no longer fitted in Marcelo Bielsa’s plans.
He told the Bees’ official website: “The new boys have settled straight in. The likes of Jansson, being one of the best centre-backs in the league.
“It’s given everybody a lift, we’ve played against him the last couple of years.
“As soon as you see them in training it reminds you of what they were like to play against.
“We’ve got a lot of men now. Jansson’s a big man.”
Sawyers himself has been linked with a move in the opposite direction.
The Daily Record reported last week Leeds are battling Celtic for Sawyers, claiming he is valued at £2.5 million.
Brentford’s transfer business this summer could help convince the club captain to stay, even if a bid was accepted.
Jansson’s surprise move has been followed up by the addition of midfielder Mathias Jensen, with David Raya and Ethan Pinnock also added.
Leeds have been busy doing business themselves, but Brentford will be competing against them to battle for promotion this coming season.
