According to Corriere dello Sport, Roma are now edging towards picking Michael Emenalo as their new sporting director.
The Serie A side parted ways with Gianluca Petrachi back in June, and have been searching for a replacement in recent times.
A number of names have been linked with what is of course an exciting role, and Leeds United’s Victor Orta is one of them.
The Yorkshire Post reported earlier this month that Roma had made a ‘lucrative’ offer to Orta in the hope of luring him to the Italian capital.
Leeds have been firm in their stance that Orta is going nowhere, despite Roma making ‘a lot of effort’ to prise the Spaniard away.
It now seems that Leeds are edging towards a sense of relief, as former Chelsea and Monaco man Emenalo is thought to be the favourite for the job.

Emenalo has allegedly held a meeting with Roma in London, and new owner Dan Friedkin is thought to be enamoured with his work despite a patchy record.
There is of course still time for this situation to change, but it seems that Roma are giving up on Orta and moving to another target.
