Roma supporters have reacted sarcastically to the news that striking star Mattia Destro has been handed a four-game ban.
Mattia Destro’s dream weekend against Cagliari has been tempered by the news that the Roma marksman has been handed a four-game ban for a punch.
Destro has been dogged by injury of late but last weekend he was back in action and showing why he has a strong case for being included in Italy’s squad for the World Cup.
The 23-year-old scored a hat-trick to see Roma to a 3-1 win over Cagliari but video evidence reviewed after the game showed him punching Davide Astori.
The news was delivered that Destro would be handed a four-game ban, three games plus one for accumulation of yellow cards, which has shaken Roma and left fans incredulous.
Destro was cited as the reason the Titanic sunk, the true perpetrator of the 9/11 attacks and the assassin of John F. Kennedy amongst many others.
The loss of Destro for four games is a big blow to Roma but also could be crucial in deciding which strikers Cesare Prandelli takes to Brazil.
