Liverpool have been linked with Fiorentina goalkeeper Neto, but there are rumours that Roma have moved ahead in the queue for him.
Simon Mignolet is not on form and Liverpool are reportedly trying to find a replacement with Fiorentina goalkeeper Neto said to be on their shopping list.
Mignolet replaced Pepe Reina in goal for Liverpool when he arrived from Sunderland for £9 million, but he has looked less than convincing.
As a result a host of goalkeepers have been linked with Liverpool, but Fiorentina shot-stopper Neto seems to be one of the more realistic targets.
The Brazilian has shot to fame in Serie A over the last year or so and his position in Florence remains up in the air as he is holding out on a contract renewal.
Although Fiorentina are reportedly getting closer to agreeing a deal with him, Neto may be keeping his options open.
Respected Italian transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà has stated that Neto has doubts over committing his future to Fiorentina, who are underachieving this season, and Roma are lingering.
Roma have been linked with Chelsea second choice Petr Cech, but Neto’s wage bill would probably be more attainable than Cech’s.
Liverpool may have to make their mind up over their January strategy sooner rather than later or they may miss out.
