Some Liverpool fans on social media have been raving over the performance of Nat Phillips against RB Leipzig on Wednesday evening.
The centre-back made his Champions League debut against the Bundesliga outfit, and it’s fair to say he took to playing in Europe like a duck to water.
Indeed, the defender earnt big praise from Jurgen Klopp, and fans were also quick to take to social media to give him the credit he deserves.
Phillips has been thrown in the deep end at Liverpool this season, filling in due to a plethora of injuries at centre-half, and despite the fact he wasn’t even registered to play in the Champions League at the beginning of the season, he’s now playing a massive part in Liverpool’s quest to win this competition for a seventh time.
Supporters were blown away by what they saw from Phillips, with fans even going as far as to compare him to some of Liverpool’s greatest former players.
Indeed, there were some fans who saw shades of Jamie Carragher in his performance, while another fan said his showing was reminiscent of Mark Wright.
Hopefully, we’ll see more and more of this type of showing from Phillips going forward.
