Aarons has been sent on loan from Newcastle for the second time this season.
Rolando Aarons has told the Sheffield Star that he is not even thinking about Newcastle United, as he switches his attention to Sheffield Wednesday until the end of the season.
The 23-year-old was sent on loan to Czech side Slovan Liberec during the first half of the campaign, where he struggled – failing to score or create an assist in 13 appearances in the top tier of Czech football.
He returned to Newcastle in the January window but was deemed surplus to requirements by Rafa Benitez, and immediately sent on loan to Wednesday where he has since managed just three substitute appearances.
The Jamaican-born England youth international was asked about his future at St. James’ Park, and Aarons responded by stating that he is not even thinking about the Tyneside club at the moment.
“I’m not really thinking about Newcastle to be honest,” Aarons said. I’m thinking about playing every game here and that is what I am focused on. I’m happy to be back in England and I will keep pushing (to play).
“Whatever happens in the summer happens. I’m looking to create and score goals and help the team get as many points as possible. It is what I have always done.”
Aarons has 27 league and cup appearances to his name for the Magpies, scoring four goals and three assists. But a long-term knee injury during 2016-17 has stunted his growth, and he was sent to Hellas Verona last season on loan.
The winger has more than two years remaining on his Toon contract which expires at the end of the 2020-21 season. The Daily Star is claiming he earns £10,000 a week.
