Rodrigo believes Georginio Rutter is adapting ‘really well’ at Leeds United after his transfer in January. He also expects Jesse Marsch’s signing to be ‘very important’ for Javi Gracia.

Leeds backed Marsch’s visions in the mid-season market to agree on a club-record transfer for Rutter. Yet the Whites fired the American just three weeks later and would appoint Gracia as his successor. Their change in manager also meant Rutter faced an extended adaptation.

Rutter moved to Elland Road from TSG Hoffenheim in the mid-season market for £36m on a five-and-a-half-year contract. Even though the 20-year-old had only scored two goals and two assists in 15 Bundesliga games this term. He started in 11 of Die Kraichgauer’s fixtures.

Leeds are yet to see Rutter open his account for goals or assists in the Premier League after six appearances. Gracia afforded the striker his debut start in the English top-flight away at Chelsea last Saturday. But he only featured for 68 minutes to reach 177 for the Whites yet.

Gracia opted to field Rutter from the off at Stamford Bridge as Patrick Bamford had picked up a leg injury. Rodrigo was also unavailable in west London while the 32-year-old recovers from an ankle injury. The Whites noted in February that it will sideline him for two months.

Rodrigo believes he, Rutter and Bamford will be ‘very important’ for Leeds

Rutter did not enjoy the debut start for Leeds at Chelsea the striker or Gracia would have hoped for with Rodrigo and Bamford injured. He struggled to provide the Whites much of a focal point at the Bridge. Gracia’s sole striker system often left Rutter an isolated figure.

Yet Rodrigo believes Rutter is settling in well at Leeds following his transfer. The Spaniard also feels the Frenchman, Bamford and himself will cut crucial figures at Elland Road over the rest of the season. The Whites are fighting to avoid relegation sat down in 17th place.

“It’s true when Georginio arrived, I got injured after two weeks,” Rodrigo told Leeds Live. “So, we didn’t train too much together but he’s adapting really well. Him and Patrick, as well, we all will be very important from now until the end.”
