Rodrigo Bentancur could make his debut for Tottenham against Brighton in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon – and the midfielder has uploaded an exciting post on Instagram ahead of the clash.

Bentancur, 24, joined Tottenham on deadline day from Juventus in a deal believed to be worth around £20million. However, Bentancur had not actually trained with his teammates until late this week.

That is due to his participation in South America’s World Cup qualification stage, representing Uruguay on Tuesday night. He opened his Uruguay account in what his 47th cap, scoring in a 4-1 win over Venezuela.

Bentancur has now trained with his new teammates on Friday and Antonio Conte has confirmed his new signing will be involved against Brighton. Posting on Instagram, Bentancur delivered an exciting message to fans.

Could Bentancur start for Tottenham against Brighton?

The chances of him actually starting the match seem slim. Even if he had been at Tottenham for a while, travelling back from international duty and being thrown into the side to take on Brighton might have been a risk.

But what does hand Bentancur a chance, is that Antonio Conte might make a few changes to his side given it is an FA Cup game. Realistically, though, Bentancur is only likely to start the match on the bench.

He has only trained with Spurs once. Fellow new addition Dejan Kulusevski probably has more of a chance of getting his name on the team sheet having been with Spurs for the majority of the week – and not involved in international duty during the break.
