Rodrigo Bentancur has told AUF TV, as per ESPN, that Tottenham star Son Heung-min that “kills you” with his attacking qualities – praising the South Korea skipper’s ability with both feet, and his quality in one-on-one situations.

Son, 30, finally ended his goal drought prior to the international break. Dropped by Antonio Conte after a poor start to the season, Son came off the bench with Spurs leading Leicester 3-2 – to score a hat-trick in just 13 minutes of play.

He remains a pivotal part of the Tottenham side under Conte, and has continued his form during the international break. In the final moments against Costa Rica, Son curled a gorgeous free-kick into the top corner to make it 2-2.

With Uruguay preparing for the World Cup in Qatar, Bentancur will take on his Tottenham teammate Son in the group stages. He thinks Son is South Korea’s best player, and raved about some of the attributes Son is renowned for.

“He is the strongest point that South Korea have. In the World Cup we are going to be rivals. He has an impressive one-on-one, a speed that kills you and he kicks very well with both legs, he is going to be a very difficult rival”.

Bentancur: Tottenham star Son ‘kills you’ with his attacking qualities

Dean Saunders claimed, prior to Son netting a hat-trick against Leicester, that Conte’s tactics do not suit him. A bizarre statement given Son was the Premier League’s joint-top scorer last season with Mo Salah. Son is world class.

Ultimately, the South Korea ace could play in any system and shine. He is that good. He is one of those players that can simply adapt to a new manager, to new tactics, to a new club. But Tottenham have him tied down until he is almost 33.

Tottenham just need to keep the likes of Son, Harry Kane, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Hugo Lloris and Eric Dier fit. If they do, then they have real chance of mounting a title charge. Son will be absolutely crucial to any success this term.
