Rodrigo has taken to Instagram to apologise to a Leeds United fan after the Spain international went straight down the tunnel at full-time. Leeds failed to beat Villa late on – despite Steven Gerrard’s men going down to 10 men.
A brace from Dan James and a Diego Llorente goal cancelled out Villa’s electric first-half display, which saw them score three of their own. Jacob Ramsey netted twice, while Philippe Coutinho got one – his second for Villa.
A brilliant game that included some dodgy defending but free-flowing attacking football – much like a basketball match. The late twist saw Ezri Konsa sent off and the Whites push for a winner – only to end 3-3.
While it was a decent point against a good Villa side, there was a sense of frustration among Leeds players that they did not win the game. Rodrigo went straight down the tunnel – instead of applauding the travelling fans.
One of those fans criticised the club’s record signing on his Instagram post after the game – questioning why he had gone down the tunnel. Rodrigo responded, apologising and stating he will clap fans next time around.

Rodrigo apology: Leeds star enjoyed one of his best games against Villa
The Spaniard was everywhere, as Marcelo Bielsa named a makeshift midfield three of Robin Koch – naturally a defender, Mateusz Klich and Rodrigo, naturally a striker. Defensively, it saw Leeds struggle.
Koch was ripped apart by the movement of Philippe Coutinho and Emi Buendia – as well as the direct style of Jacob Ramsey. But in an attacking sense, Rodrigo was threatening and got the assist for Dan James’ second.
