Watford are expected to be extremely busy during this summer’s transfer window.

Udinese striker Rodrigo Aguirre could be heading to the Premier League, after his agent told Uruguayan media outlet La Oral Deportiva that the Hornets have lodged a loan enquiry regarding to the Serie A club.

The 22-year-old striker has spent numerous loan spells away from the Italian side, since joining them from Liverpool Montevideo in 2014.

He is pacey, and accomplished at making unselfish runs into the channels which, in turn, creates space for his teammates in which to flourish.

And Aguirre’s agent Pablo Betancourt told La Oral Deportivo that his client is a wanted man this summer, highlighting both Watford and Roma as potential suitors for his signature:

Roma and Watford have asked for information to take Aguirre on loan. It’s unlikely he will remain at Nacional, because he wants to listen to offers from other clubs.”

Hornets boss Marco Silva is renowned for his preference of signing technically gifted strikers, and Aguirre fits that bills perfectly, so it would be no surprise to see him end up at Vicarage Road this season.

He also has the kind of physique that is required to be a success in England. He is powerfully built, standing at just over 6ft 2in, and could prove to be a useful asset for Watford from set-pieces.

He is by no means the most prolific of forwards, however, having scored just 23 goals in the last five years.
