Gareth Bale is getting better and better for Tottenham Hotspur.
Bale impressed off the bench against Manchester City last week and then reminded his critics this season of his class with a brilliant goal in the Europa League win over Wolfsberger in midweek.
Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho was reportedly going to start him in this afternoon’s visit to West Ham United, but the 31-year-old wound up only making the bench again.
And given how good Bale was when he came on at half-time, coupled with the fact Spurs lost 2-1, it makes you wonder if Mourinho should’ve stuck him in the first XI after all.
The Welshman was one of the Lilywhites’ best players this afternoon despite having 45 minutes less than his team-mates.
Not only did he whip in the corner which led to Lucas Moura’s consolation goal on 64 minutes, but he hit the crossbar late on and his range of passing gave the visitors a different dimension in comparison to what Erik Lamela offered.

Tottenham are home to Burnley next weekend and if Mourinho – who has overseen three Premier League wins since beating Arsenal in early December – doesn’t start Bale then questions will be asked.
