Rodney Marsh suggests crazy valuation for Tottenham’s Harry Kane

Former England forward Rodney Marsh has suggested what he feels Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane is worth.

Former England striker Rodney Marsh has suggested to talkSPORT that Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane is worth £100 million.

Marsh made the assessment by comparing Kane to Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala, who arrived at the Etihad for £32 million last summer but has struggled to have any impact for the side in the Premier League.

“I reckon he is worth £100million, I honestly do. If I was a chairman of a football club that is what I would pay for Harry Kane,” said Marsh.

“If Mangala is worth £32million, Harry Kane is worth £100m all day long.”

While the prospect of a £100 million fee for the striker may make Daniel Levy’s mouth water, it’s never going to happen for a number of reasons.

Firstly, Kane signed a new deal with Tottenham earlier in the season and if he’d had aspirations to leave the club, he would never have signed it.

The club and the player made a commitment and Kane doesn’t seem like the sort of person who would turn his back on that commitment after such a short period of time.

Secondly, he may have had a good season but any club applying logic to that valuation of him would have a serious problem paying it.

Kane hasn’t even completed one full season as Tottenham’s main striker and a fee that would be greater than the ones paid for Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale would represent a huge gamble.

Thirdly, it’s a potential deal that would alienate the club’s support base entirely if Levy went for it.

Kane is popular because of his upbringing at Tottenham and the way he developed into a key first team player and it would be a massive own goal if the club risked that.
