Former Queens Park Rangers and Manchester City forward Rodney Marsh has praised Southampton star Charlie Austin on social networking site Twitter.

Austin has been on the books of Premier League outfit Southampton since January 2016 when he joined them from QPR.

According to a report in The Guardian at the time, the Saints had to pay Rangers a transfer fee of £4 million in order to secure the services of the English forward.

The former Burnley forward arrived at St. Mary’s Stadium with a strong reputation, but he struggled to make a huge impact during the second half of last season due to injury problems.

The 27-year-old scored one goal and created one chance in seven Premier League matches for the Saints last season.

So far this campaign, Austin has scored one goal and created one chance in four league appearances for Southampton.

The former Swindon Town forward scored the only goal in Southampton’s 1-0 victory over Swansea City at St. Mary’s Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Former QPR forward Marsh was following the match, and he was pleased to see Austin playing well.
