Rodney Marsh has praised West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice on Twitter for his performance against Chelsea on Monday evening.

The former Fulham and Queens Park Rangers forward believes that Rice was outstanding against Chelsea despite West Ham losing the Premier League game 3-0 at Stamford Bridge.

Marsh has hailed the passing of the 21-year-old England international, who can also operate as a defender, and has compared it to that of Manchester United legend Paul Scholes.

How did Declan Rice play for West Ham United?

Rice is one of the best young midfielders in the Premier League and is a key figure in the current West Ham team.

The youngster had a brilliant goal ruled out in the early stages of the London derby and played well throughout.

The 21-year-old imposed himself in the middle of the park and drove the team forward.

According to WhoScored, Rice had a pass accuracy of 98%, won one header, took 58 touches, attempted one dribble, made one tackle and one interception, and put in one cross.

So far this season, the youngster has provided one assist in 14 Premier League matches for West Ham, according to WhoScored.
