West Ham United’s Manuel Lanzini has extended his stay with the club.

Midfielder Manuel Lanzini of West Ham United signs a new long-term contract until 2023 at London Stadium on August 30, 2019 in London, England.

West Ham United have enjoyed a great weekend, beating Norwich City 2-0 at home on Saturday afternoon, just about 24 hours after announcing Manuel Lanzini’s new contract.

The Hammers eased to victory over the newly-promoted Canaries, as Sebastien Haller and Andriy Yarmolenko both struck to secure the win.

It’s now two league wins in a row for Manuel Pellegrini and co, and their on-pitch success has been complemented by a great move off it.

Playmaker Lanzini has signed a new deal with the club, extending his stay until 2023, and there is even an option for a further two years after that.

The Argentinian has been with West Ham since 2015 having joined on loan from Al Jazira Club, and he became a fan favourite in East London as his loan became permanent.

Now with more than 100 appearances to his name with the Hammers, Lanzini is part of the furniture at the London Stadium, and fans will love how he has started this season having got back to his best post-injury.

One pundit decided to poke a bit of fun at West Ham though, and that was Rodney Marsh, who started his career in the Hammers youth setup.

Marsh suggested that Lanzini is ‘too good’ for West Ham and would be a great bench option for a team like Manchester City instead, which unsurprisingly didn’t go down to well.

It’s clear that Lanzini is better off being a star and a fan favourite at West Ham than being just another body at a club like City, and fans will be delighted that the player himself has recognised that – even if Marsh may suggest different.
