Rodney Marsh has suggested a solution to the Newcastle United takeover saga on Twitter.
The former Queens Park Rangers and Manchester City forward has suggested that perhaps there should be a vote among the residents of Newcastle to decide if Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) should own the club.
Marsh made the remark on Twitter in response to Premier League chief executive Richard Masters’s reported latest comments regarding the proposed takeover by PIF.
As reported by BBC Sport, Masters has written to the lawyers of Hatice Cengiz, the fiancee of murdered journalist Jamal Khashoggi, stating that that the Premier League will fully consider their calls for the takeover to be blocked.
PIF are planning to buy the Premier League club from current owner Mike Ashley in a £300 million deal, according to BBC Sport, although it has been in the works for several weeks now.
Back in action
Meanwhile, Newcastle will return to action this month, as the Premier League season gets back underway.
The Magpies will take on Sheffield United at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on June 21.
It is unlikely that Steve Bruce’s side will get relegated to the Championship.
