With Kolo Toure expected to exit Celtic this summer, it would make sense for Brendan Rodgers to look to bring in a new centre-back.

Efe Ambrose is also set to leave and a sensible target could be his international teammate Kenneth Omeruo.

The talented Nigerian international is under contract at Chelsea but is desperate to leave the Blues, having become sick of being shipped around on loan.

Omeruo has had spells at Middlesbrough and most recently in Turkey, and told Goal he cannot progress his career unless he quits the club.

The Mail reported in 2013 that current Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers was keen on signing Omeruo for Liverpool.

Still only 23-years-old, Omeruo has experience of starring at a World Cup already under his belt, and needs to get back on track to establish himself as a starter for 2018.

The centre-back would be a smart permanent signing for Celtic, where he could look to re-establish himself, compete for titles and play in the Champions League.

Chelsea are in no position to demand huge money for his services having shipped him around and letting his transfer value diminish, and need to be fair to him and grant the exit he wants.

Omeruo could provide Celtic with another option amid Newcastle’s interest in Jozo Simunovic [Mail], and Brendan Rodgers’ previous interest suggests he may not be too far from their radar.
