Celtic are looking at free agent right back Moses Odubajo.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has told The Scottish Sun that he feels trialist Moses Odubajo is a ‘big talent’ as the Bhoys consider a deal.

Rodgers and co have tied up one deal this summer having brought in loan striker Odsonne Edouard permanently from Paris Saint-Germain, and they will now be looking for more recruits.

Earlier this week, free agent defender Moses Odubajo was spotted on Celtic’s pre-season trip to Austria, and he could win himself a contract with the Bhoys after a nightmare two years.

The former Leyton Orient talent, now 24, had starred with Brentford in the Championship to earn a 2015 move to Hull City, playing more than 50 games in all competitions to help the Tigers win promotion to the Premier League.

However, the play-off final win over Sheffield Wednesday in 2016 is the last game Odubajo managed to play, as he has suffered a number of knee injuries, requiring three major operations.

A pacey, attacking right back when in full flight, Odubajo is now out of contract having left Hull, and it seems that he wants to try and salvage his career elsewhere after a real struggle at the KCOM Stadium.

Odubajo will now look to impress Rodgers enough to win a contract, and the Celtic boss has told The Scottish Sun that he thinks Odubajo could be a ‘really exciting’ signing if the Bhoys do choose to do a deal.

Rodgers added that the situation is similar to when Celtic signed Craig Gordon in the summer of 2014 after two years out of the game, and that deal proved to be a huge success for the Bhoys, showing Odubajo what he could earn.

“We got permission to speak to Moses and we had a conversation. His profile when he is fully fit is really exciting. An up to speed Moses is a big talent,” said Rodgers. “There is a concern over his fitness after so long out, but we will see what happens over the next week. I have always been one to give opportunities, whether players have had injuries or been discarded.”

“You always have to weigh up the upside and the downside, but Craig Gordon is a great example of what can happen. I admired Moses at Hull and Brentford. He was an exceptional talent. Moses was a winger before being turned into a full-back. He can go forward and is good defensively as well. That sort of player attracts us. We are looking to develop the squad, that’s vitally important,” he added.
