Brendan Rodgers has only just got through a first week as Leicester City manager, but there are already rumours surrounding his potential targets.

Rodgers traded Celtic for Leicester last week after Claude Puel’s exit, and he opened with a 2-1 defeat at Watford on Sunday.

Despite having a promising squad, Leicester do need a couple of additions, and with Youri Teielemans only on loan from Monaco, a midfielder may be on the radar.

The Daily Record report that Rodgers wants to raid Aston Villa for midfielder John McGinn, with a £20million fee believed to be on his head.

McGinn, 24, has hit two goals and seven assists for Villa whilst impressing with incredible engine, and Rodgers seemingly wants to add him to his midfield options at the King Power Stadium.

That’s no great surprise given that Rodgers wanted McGinn at Celtic, but as if his exploits at Villa haven’t been insult enough for the Bhoys, Rodgers spending so much money on him really would compound the misery.

Celtic famously dallied over McGinn last summer, having a host of bids rejected by Hibernian before matching Villa’s bid according to the Daily Record – but it was too late as the Scotland international chose the Midlands over Glasgow.

It was just £3million that McGinn moved on for, and less than a year later, he’s been touted for moves at six times that amount – and Celtic may well rue not spending on the player Rodgers wanted.
