Celtic beat Hamilton Academical 3-1 on Wednesday night.
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers has told the Glasgow Evening Times that defender Dedryck Boyata should be fit for this weekend’s trip to face Hearts.
The Bhoys only just escaped Sunday’s trip to Hibernian with their unbeaten record still intact, having thrown away a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 – and almost conceded a late winner too.
Things were much smoothers for Brendan Rodgers and co against Hamilton Academical on Wednesday night though, even after Daniel Redmond had cancelled out Olivier Ntcham’s opening goal.
Goals from James Forrest and Scott Sinclair handed Celtic a 3-1 win at Celtic Park, meaning their unbeaten domestic record has now stretched to a staggering 69 games.
The attention will now turn to the weekend trip to face Hearts at Tynecastle, where manager Rodgers will be hoping to make it to 70 domestic games unbeaten as Celtic boss.
Ahead of that game, questions have been asked about the status of defender Dedryck Boyata, given that he was substituted in the second half against Hamilton Academical with an injury.
The Belgian defender has been a regular this season in a depleted Celtic defence, and Rodgers has moved to calm fears that the 27-year-old will miss the game against Hearts.
Rodgers has told the Glasgow Evening Times that Celtic’s medical team are convinced that it’s a minor stretch of the groin for Boyata, and the former Manchester City man will be fit to face Hearts.
“Boyata should be fine,” said Rodgers. “The medical team tell me that it’s just a slight stretch of his groin but he should be ok,” he added.
