Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has told The Scottish Sun that Dorus De Vries picked up an injury against Kilmarnock today, hence his half-time substitution.
The Bhoys coasted to a 6-1 win against Kilmarnock this afternoon, as Moussa Dembele’s brace put Celtic 2-1 up following Souleymane Coulibaly’s stunning long-range opener.

James Forrest, Leigh Griffiths, Scott Sinclair and Tom Rogic got in on the act to make it 6-1, and extend Celtic’s lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table to five points.
On what was a positive afternoon for Celtic, the one plot on their copy book was Coulibaly’s goal, and the manner in which it was scored.
The Ivorian striker, formerly of Tottenham, picked the ball up on the left hand side and unleashed a stunning strike from 35 yards, looping over goalkeeper Dorus De Vries and into the back of the net.

Coulibaly’s goal against brought De Vries’ role into question, and he was substituted at half time in favour of backup goalkeeper Craig Gordon, who had been Celtic’s first choice before Rodgers’ arrival.
After the game, Rodgers claimed to The Scottish Sun that De Vries’ substitution was because he suffered a chest injury during Coulibaly’s goal, and he didn’t want to take any more risks with the 35-year-old Dutchman.

Rodgers added that he thinks the popular Gordon is improving with the ball at his feet, and feels he is a ‘brilliant shot stopper’, despite the Scot being ousted since Rodgers’ appointment.
“He maybe could have played on but we have Craig there fit and capable and I didn’t want to take any risk and we will see over the next couple of days,” said Rodgers. “ “He is more than capable. He is a brilliant shot stopper, improving his game with his feet all the time.”
