Brendan Rodgers spoke after Celtic’s 4-3 win over Motherwell.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has told the club’s official website that he was impressed with Tom Rogic against Motherwell today – but suggested Moussa Dembele wasn’t at his best.
The Bhoys travelled to Fir Park in search of a positive result to continue their unbeaten league campaign, but they were given a major scare in a dramatic encounter against Mark McGhee’s side.
Louis Moult gave Motherwell an early lead before doubling their advantage before half time, and at 2-0 down at the break, Rodgers was staring in the face of a first league defeat as Celtic boss.

Celtic hit back after the break through Callum McGregor, before a bizarre final 20 minutes ensued. Patrick Roberts equalised on 70 minutes for Celtic, only for Lionel Ainsworth to put Motherwell back in front a minute later, and just another minute later, Celtic were back on level terms again thanks to Stuart Armstrong’s goal.
It appeared that the two sides were set for a point each, but Celtic claimed all three points in injury time as Tom Rogic struck to give the Bhoys all three points.

After the game, Rodgers spoke to the club’s official website, and heaped praise on playmaker Rogic, suggesting that he’s an ‘amazing player’, and made an outstanding contribution during the game for his side.
Rodgers also hailed Stuart Armstrong, Callum McGregor and Scott Brown, but wasn’t quite so impressed with striker Moussa Dembele, who has been the star of the season with 17 goals before today’s game.
The Frenchman couldn’t find the net today though, and Rodgers suggested that he wasn’t at his best and was too quiet, whilst he also suggested that Kolo Toure didn’t have one of his better days either.

“He’s an amazing player, with a real high level of technique and he’s improving his stamina all the time,” said Rodgers. “He’s playing in different positions for us but what he can get goals and he’s scoring important goals. His contribution was outstanding.”
“There were a number of very good performers in the second half. The boys down the sides really opened up the pitch for us, Stuart Armstrong was exceptional, along with Cal (Callum McGregor). Browny provided that protection and Tom in that no.10 role was exceptional.”
“Moussa was quiet today and he wasn’t as good as he has been but he’s still handful because of his presence. It wasn’t one of Kolo’s better days but he came back and kept fighting and working, and it was much better from him in the second half,” he added.
