Celtic should consider a move for Middlesbrough’s Viktor Fischer.
Viktor Fischer of Middlesbrough in action
With Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers making it his priority to try and unearth a ‘new Coutinho’ this summer, he might want to consider Middlesbrough attacker Viktor Fischer.
Fischer, 22, is likely to be available this summer after falling out of favour on Teeside, and the club seemingly set for relegation as it stands.
The attacking midfielder fits a similar profile to Coutinho when Rodgers signed him for Liverpool.
Both players were regarded as wonderkids when they broke through in their teens, but in each case their stars faded.
Coutinho found himself loaned by Inter Milan out to Espanyol before Liverpool took a gamble on him, and it paid off big time.
Fischer was touted as Ajax’s next star in his teens, starring in the now defunct NextGen Series. Several Champions League sides were supposed to be chasing him, but after losing momentum, his next move was Middlesbrough.

He has found it tough going on Teesside, practically ignored by management since December, his last appearance in the Premier League.
The attacking midfielder has two assists in his six league starts, and his ongoing omission is a subject of frustration for fans on social media.
Likely available in the summer, Celtic should consider giving him the platform to revitalise his career.
They do not have the funds to buy an established star so need to take punts on potential.
The Mail are reporting Celtic will look for players in the £4-5 million bracket.
Fischer could fit this, and would need to lift his game in order to be a success, but he may be just the player Brendan Rodgers is looking for.
