Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers says new signing Cristian Gamboa is the sort of player he likes as he singles out his positive and energetic style as key attributes, Herald Scotland report.
The Hoops added to their squad ahead of the summer transfer window deadline as Costa Rica international Gamboa joined on a three-year deal from Premier League side West Bromwich Albion.
The 26-year-old right-back barely featured for the Baggies, yet Rodgers believes his brief performances at the Hawthorns were very good and will fit in well at Celtic Park.
Talking to reporters on his club’s new signing, the former Liverpool boss believes Gamboa’s quick and aggressive style of play will suit the team’s profile while also praising his ability in possession.
“He hasn’t played a lot recently for whatever reason but when he has played he has been very, very good,” Rodgers told Herald Scotland.
“He’s a type of player I like. He is always on the front foot, super quick, aggressive in defending – he gets up to people, presses the game well. When he has the ball he can pass it very well.”

Gamboa started his career in his native Costa Rica before earning himself a deal with Norwegian side Fredrikstad and later Danish giants Copenhagan.
He joined West Brom in 2014 and made 11 Premier League appearances for the Baggies, while on the international scene ha has an impressive 50 caps.
Scottish Premiership champions Celtic have shaped their squad nicely this past summer and Rodgers will feel he has the squad to challenge both on the domestic front and in Europe in the Champions League.
