Assaidi showed flashes of promise at Liverpool but could not establish himself ahead of Raheem Sterling, and ended up being loaned out to Stoke City and eventually being sold.
After signing with Dutch side FC Twente earlier this year, Assaidi is back in form, scoring four goals in his first eight Eredivisie games of the season.
Recently turning 29, Assaidi would be a player for the present, who could help Celtic immediately and over the next couple of seasons.
Assaidi ended up feeling let down by Rodgers at Liverpool over his lack of game time, but this would be a chance for the pair to re-write recently history and get back on the same page.
With three goals in his last two games, Assaidi is just getting restarted, and Rodgers should offer him the chance to continue his revival in Glasgow.
