Celtic are reportedly set to sign Lewis Morgan from St Mirren.
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has refused to be drawn on reports that the Bhoys are set to sign St Mirren playmaker Lewis Morgan, simply telling BBC Sport that he rates the youngster.
The Bhoys saw their 69-game unbeaten domestic run come to an end on Sunday with a 4-0 defeat at Hearts, and had to respond quickly against Partick Thistle on Wednesday night.
Rodgers’ men did just that, as Stuart Armstrong and Kieran Tierney struck to give Celtic a 2-0 win at Celtic Park, taking their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership back up to five points.
Celtic paraded new signing Marvin Compper before the game, given that the German defender agreed a move from RB Leipzig on Wednesday afternoon – and another player is thought to be on his way to Glasgow.
The Scottish Herald report that St Mirren playmaker Lewis Morgan is set to join Celtic, with the Bhoys paying a £300,000 fee before loaning him back to St Mirren for the rest of the season.
Morgan, 21, hit 10 goals in 46 games last season, and has impressed this term with 10 goals in 23 appearances for Jack Ross’ side, spearheading their promotion hopes.
With his deal expiring at the end of the season, St Mirren would get the best of both worlds, landing a fee for their star player whilst also retaining him for the rest of the season.
However, Celtic boss Rodgers wasn’t given anything away when speaking to BBC Sport, simply stating that he thinks Morgan is a ‘fantastic talent’ and that Celtic hope to get more deals done in January.
“The young boy is a fantastic talent,” said Rodgers. “We have our plans. We have one in and will continue to look to develop the squad,” he added.
